I will be undergoing a rather big trip overseas in the coming months and I am starting to ponder how on earth I will be able to post to my photoblog at the rate I do now.
I know it won't be possible, and without photo upload software, editing software and a scanner, I am not even sure how I am going to get my photos online, let alone post to my blog.
Does anyone have any experience with photoblogging while you've been travelling?
Did you post from a friend's computer or is it possible to use a net cafe?
Any thoughts on this topic would be much appreciated.

If you're in relatively metropolitan cities it should be possible to get film scanned to CD and then to both resize your jpegs and upload to your website from a net cafe. Where are you going? And, how do you normally upload to your site?

Took the words right out of my mouth, Matto. Also, if your content management system permits it, you can set it up to post photos ahead of time if you've got a significant archive.
I did just that when I was in the Big Apple last week. Now only if I can get those negs from the custom lab soon (they promised me Wednesday), I'll be able to start posting them, dag nab it!

Occasionally I've seen travelling photobloggers invite guest posters in to keep things interesting in their absence.
I'm fond of this approach as you get a peek at some new work, and the blog owner gets to focus on travelling and taking new pictures.

Heh, I'm travelling as we speak. So far, it's been easy for me since most--but by no means all--of the hotels I've been staying at have wireless access. I usually only use it if the service is free, though. Plus I have Photoshop on my laptop and therefore have everything I need.
Of course, all my work is done in digital, so this simplifies the process incredibly. In your case, I would say post only digital if you feel that you must continue to update. Share the real photos upon your return.

Good question. Reminds me of the story about the space race in the 60's. The Americans, realizing that the gravitational pull would be tiny in space, spent millions of dollars designing a pen that would write without it. [The standard fountain pen of the day simply would not work without a pull drawing the ink from the reservoir.] After many months and a multitude of tests, NASA came up with an instrument that would do the job, the predecessor of today's ball-point pen. In Russia, anticipating the same gravitational problem, the cosmonauts used pencils.
When travelling, I shoot with a little, film camera and a small notebook to write when and where I was taking pictures. I update back at home... more time travelling, less internet cafe....

I usually see three solutions, two of which require that you prepare and upload entries in advance. You can then activate them from public access sites or, alternatively, use something like the MT-publish-on plugin (http://mt-plugins.org/archives/dev/007437.php) to activate your entries at specific times. I know that installing the later is rather tricky.
Finally, having guest bloggers is also becoming fairly common.
The whole point depends on how long you will be gone.

I don't mind waiting for updates till you get back from your trip.
The guest bloggers idea is a great one.

A few weeks ago I was traveling and had the same question. My hotel offered free internet access. So I brought my notebook computer and updated from my hotel room. I had a digital camera though so I did not have to worry about a scanner. You can probably get a CD with your photos from wherever you get your photos developed.

Well yes I wouldnt have worried if it were a short trip, but I am going to be gone at least 4 months.
Plus I want to share something while Im away!
Thanks for your thoughts everyone.
