By the Day
Presenting your Photos in a Daily Batch.
Over the past year, it has become standard to have a layout that features only your most recent photo on your main page. This is the ideal situation especially if your are following the one photo per day style that many photobloggers use on their sites. I on the other hand like to post more than one photo a day, which has it's benefits as well as a couple of drawbacks. Often the photos I have posted earlier in the day, won't get as much exposure on the site because of it's short shelf life on the main page. I know in a recent thread on this site, the question was also posed regarding if people posted more than one photo a day.
I created this little tutorial for users of MT photoblog sites that like to post more than one photo a day on their site. It will give your readers the option to click on one link to view your day's worth of images.
NOTE:
a) These instructions are strictly for Moveable Type Users
b) No plugins are required, but you should have a basic knowledge of how to change your templates, although I tried to be very step by step in my instructions
c) This may not be suitable if you are posting a large number of photos per day as the consolidated page will take much longer to load. Of course this is your own preference for you to decide.
d) This is perfect for photobloggers who consistently post more than one photo a day.
Click here to read the txt tutorial
I placed this in a txt file, cause it was easier to read and format the MT code snippits in txt format instead of trying to format the code for this blog
You can view this little MT trick at work on my site, photojunkie.ca
When you have the main page loaded, click on the More from Today hyperlink below the photo's title.
Enjoy

photojunkie.org is dying a horrible death. I haven't had a chance to do anything with it all summer.
I have plans for it though. but we shall see.
In other news I have another more intricate tuttorial that I have to put together about a way to create a pseudo gallery via MT using your categories.
Dunno when I will have a chance to write it.. but I will probably post that here to if there is interest

You can view the NEW photoalbum feature on the new archives page on my site.
Essentially you can pick any album and view pictures from the same grouping all in order and strung together.
Here is a specific example The Whitby Psychiatric Album
It's much easier to navigate through related pictures than the old method.

I prefer posting all photos on main page. I have found myself often to miss there are more photos than the one I can see on the main page because I am focused more on photos then text (but this may be just my laziness, your logs will tell you the truth).

I definately love it but I don't think it would work with my photoblog at the moment. The CSS would get in the way or I am to lame to figure out how to change it but I am definately keeping it on file for my next update. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for sharing it, Rannie.
By the way, I can't access your site at all. It's been that way since photojunkie.ca started running earlier this year. It's either a 403 or a time-out - I wonder if that may have something to do with my IP address.

Jasmin, That is very strange. The site is up and running just fine, I have no idea why you would be getting that error.

Yes it is. And it seems to happen only with my ISP.
