Free Personal Hardcover Book

Sat, October 2nd, 2004 by Jessyel Ty Gonzalez

Well, not too sure how many of you will be interested, but I think it warrants a post.

Anyway, there is a website called MyPublisher.com that makes your personalized photography books. You download their publishing software (only takes about a minute), and you can have up to a twenty-page book, with up to 80 photos, for FREE, and that also includes FREE SHIPPING.

It's a current promotion, ends on October 31 (or until supplies last). Enter this promotional code: REFB777 during checkout.

I've tried MyPublisher in the past, and have had some awesome results. I recommend them, hence this posting. A note, however: You'll need high-quality photos; smaller than 3 megapixels won't work too well, but the cool is that their software will tell you which photos can and can't work for publishing.

These are cool for personal, business, gifts, portfolio, etc. use. It's free, so you won't be losing anything, AND past customers are also eligible.

UPDATE: Only Windows users can download their software. But I believe the Mac's iPhoto service used MyPublisher as well. AND, apparently the free shipping applies only towards U.S. customers.

Fellow Mac users, note that MyPublisher Bookmaker only runs on Windows PCs. At least we've got iPhoto and can make our books through Apple's service. Alas, they don't have a similar free offer (sigh)... But I wonder if I could do it through emulation software like Virtual PC? Hmmmmmmm....

I put in that code and as far as I can tell, all they're giving away is the cost of shipping & handling.

Nothing on the website about a free book.

Yeah, it's a 'friend' promotion, not something being advertised on the front page. I've ordered from them in the past and they sent me an email with the code. I've ordered a free one, as have both my parents, and three of my friends, and got an email from someone checking this post out who already ordered one; so the code works.

Be sure to have only 20 pages max, hardcover (NOT leather), standard shipping (NOT overnight), and after entering the code in the box, click on 'verify code' so activate it.

Does anyone know if they ship to locations outside the U.S.A.?

I'd rather not download the software and then discover they won't deal with us Canadians.

  6. nevets Says:

actually... the service you get with iPhoto is sent through MyPublisher - it uses the same service.

They seem to ship to Europe, but then the FedEx charges are on you, $13.5 for Hungary...

I have just ordered one book with my pictures from New Orleans. They only charge the shipping through FedEx (13.25$ US) to Canada. I can't wait to receive it and thanks Jessyel for the coupon, you're great!

I just received the book I ordered with this promotion, and I can't even describe how pleased I am with the finished product. I will definitely use this service again and am than willing to pay full-price for their hard-bound books. Thanks for passing this info along, Jessyel!

Yeah, I received mine yesterday. I had never ordered a hardcover before (just the small paperbacks) and was quite pleased as well. You got to love pages that are made of tissue paper before the actual pages begin eh?

  13. Dyanna Says:

I love the vellum pages! What an unexpectedly classy touch. :)

Heather Champ's been showcasing some guest photographers while she's been ill this last week, including myself. This is a great honor; Heather is one of the untouchables as far as I'm concerned.

In other news, I just got this promotional email from mypublisher.com about their new "really, really fucking huge" custom hardcover books. This is really annoying. Why? Because I when first heard about them on this thread at photoblogs.org, I thought it looked really cool and decided to try it out. I downloaded the software, put my layout together, and submitted the order. "Most orders ship within two business days," they say on their website. 5 weeks later, I'm still waiting. When I email them all I get is a form response about how I should be patient and how their build process is automated and they can't do anything about it. OK, that's all fine and good, but if you're over a month behind (and counting!) on orders, why the hell would you introduce a brand new product? It's so aggravating! Stop offering new services and start actually performing the ones you offered before. My book better be damn great when it finally gets here. Argh. I really want to like you, MyPublisher, but you make it so hard!
