I've created a List of Camera Makes and Models in the wiki. The original list was taken from the Camera Survey that we had a while back.
I'd like to ask you (yes you) to take a look at the list and check it for mistakes and omissions. Anyone (yes, even you) can edit this document and make corrections. If enough of us fix just a couple small things, then we'll have a great list that can be used to make Photoblogs.org a better site.
I'll use this list to integrate camera data into our Photoblogs.org profiles. That way we can search to see who's using what cameras.
What do you think?

Do we get to see the survey results? I wanted to see what the most popular cameras were.

Wait... nevermind. Sorry, I've been smoking crack all morning.

Is there a way to delete whole categories on here? "Lomography" isn't a manufacturer, it should be rolled into "Lomo", as should "Lubitel" because it's just a specific model that Lomo makes...

There's an "edit" tab at the top of the page that will allow you to make changes to the whole page at once.

I cleaned up the Canon Listings..
- deleted multiple entries
- made the entries uniform
Also made some delete and changes in a couple of other categories.

I added a couple.

Canon EOS 20D is omitted from what I glanced at.

You people are awesome! If you're interested, you can look at the "history" tab at the top of the wiki page to see all the changes that people have made so far.
Amazing.

We're only adding cameras we actually USE, right? It wouldn't make any sense to just create a huge list of cameras. Maybe you should clarify the parent post?
October 26th, 2004 at 2:08 pm
I only added cameras that I personally use.

Justin, it actually may make sense to have a huge list of cameras. Once the data is in Photoblogs.org, I can decide how to display/use it.
I guess it really depends on how far everyone is willing to take this.

Why is Sony List 3 times...
I worked on the top half of the list...
You can tell which ones I have been in as I formatted the full names into everything...
LOL

I moved the Woca to the Holga Section

How do you add a brand (Minox, Kiev, etc.)?
October 26th, 2004 at 2:45 pm
Martin, you can use the "edit" tab at the top of the wiki page to edit the entire document... Then you can add a new brand anywhere you like.
Once you're on the edit screen you'll be able to figure out how everything is formatted.

Okay enough editing from me, at least for now,
Brandon, I hope it's okay that I added the "Brand" name in front of all the camera names. If we end up using this list to link to profiles, having the brand names included will be so much more meaningful than simple the product name, which is often meaning less letters and numbers (I know I shouldn't use the words meaning less here)

Thanks Rannie!
I like what you've done with the brands. After thinking about it a bit, I do prefer it that way.
This list is really coming along!

Added the Canon S45. (yes the model I use)

'Brandon, I hope it's okay that I added the "Brand" name in front of all the camera names.'
I think that's also a good idea because for lots of cameras the brand name is an important part of the product name, or a variation thereof (for example, "Nikkormat" or "Nikomat" instead of just "Nikon.")

I've gone in and created a few subpages for some of my favourite cameras (Olympus XA, Konica Hexar and Leica Digilux). I've also put in links to random images taken by those cameras (using the pbase.com database). I don't know whether that's something we want to be doing or not, but from my perspective I thought it might be interesting to show what those cameras are capable of. If the group doesn't think that's a good idea, let me know (or since it's a Wikiremove the links yourself).

Hin, I had hoped to eventually go in this direction, but I didn't anticipate it happening so soon. This is a pleasant surprise.
I'm going to set up a wiki at http://www.camerapedia.org/ where we can continue to explore this camera/wiki idea.
I'll also transfer the existing camera pages from the Photoblogs.org Wiki over to Camerapedia.org, so that it will be the official place for this new camera information database.
This is fun!
