Due to the great response to yesterday's post about camera makes and models, I've created a new wiki site called Camerapedia.org!
This will be a great place to collect links and information about all different kinds of cameras. Since anyone can add and update information on the site, we can shape this into whatever we want it to be.
I will also use the data on Camerapedia.org to help create new Photoblogs.org features, so I'm very excited about the possibilities here.
Right now we need to migrate the information from the current List of Camera Makes and Models to the new Camerapedia.org site. If any of you would like to help with this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brandon

I will hover over the Nikon section like a mother bird.

Hey, I like that camerapedia logo. Did you design that Brandon?

Yeah, it is a cool logo, and a cool idea. A feature I would recommend adding is having users rate their cameras on the site, probably a 1 out of 10. Also listing the pro's and con's, and any review they'd like to write, as well as being able to show shots that one can get using the camera. Just some thoughts...

Nice idea and very excellent logo Branndon. I (think) I have migrated all the data (including internal page links from the list) that I could find on the wiki to the new site, but may have missed something, so please feel free to double check!

No Powershot Pro1 link? Did it get bashed right off the list?
Thanks Brandon!

Okay, sorry, I didn't read the 'Camera Makes and Models' post first as suggested. Sounds like I can add the Pro1 myself...
I read magazines backwards, too...

Not trying to spread around nasty ideas, just wanting to educate myself:
Can a disgruntled user delete everybody's hard work from a wiki?
I'm a couple years behind the times.

Yes, they can delete it or vandalize, but it only takes a couple of clicks to bring it back. A history of every revision is stored in the wiki database, so everyone's hard work is safe.

Oh, and regarding the logo... That was my good friend, Desi, who designed that.
I'm really happy with it. Desi is rad.

This is excellent, thanks.
How about lenses? Tripods? Maybe even software and Photoshop/PSP/Gimp plugins?
I know the answer is: "It is a wiki, add your own", and thats cool, but is there a source of information we could start with?

I say no to software and reviews. Let's take a lesson from Wikipedia and keep it to the facts. No POV. Link to professional reviews or review sites if you like. I'm undecided on the lenses and tripods or other accesories. Let's get the camera's flushed out first ok?

excellent, thanks.
