From the same people that brought you SimpleViewer comes PostcardViewer, a free Flash image viewer. Kind of like SimpleViewer, except about 1000% more awesome, if that's even possible, which it might not be because SimpleViewer is so cool.

Neato...I love what they are doing and I know there is a lot more improvement for the software they are working with. Flash can do a lot of things that they have yet to tap into. I just cannot figure out why most photographers are so against flash galleries.

These are great. I like what many people are doing with flash galleries, and I think I could utilise these.

Beautiful! PostcardViewer will make a nifty little gallery display for smaller collections of shots. I can't wait to give it a try. Thanks for the pointer, Justin.

Clever little app. I'm a little sea-sick from looking through some "postcards" but it is nice.

Only thing I never dug about flash, depending on the 'heaviness' of the app, is that sometimes it can bog down a CPU enough to make for a poor user experience. That postcard app is awesome, but sorta sluggish on my g4 400MHz.

it's an interesting concept, I noticed there's a recently added photoblog already using it, http://ultraalloy.com/

My only problem with Flash is that you can't permalink. That's the ONLY thing keeping me from going all-Flash on my site, no joke.

Justin: with simple PHP and ActionScript, you can easily create permalinks. It's a matter of building Flash so that it sends URL variables to your PHP script and vice versa.

Permalinks work with Flash
For example the permalink to my latest picture is :
http://razziphoto.com/pop.php?path=content/main/photolog/8924.jpg&cached=1&margin=0&desc=1
but I'm a bit too lazy to implement it

Dudley is doing some interesting things with flash. Well worth checking out.

In particular, look at his flickr-ish on-the-photo commenting system:

Thanks, Brandon. I've been watching how people use FotoBuzz on I've Seen Better for the last couple of months. In it's current form, it can be very useful for some photos. What's really lacking at the moment is away to have several people comment on a single region on the photo. Once we add that feature, I think it will be a whole lot easier to use for commenting directly on photos.

has anyone had a problem with 'hotlink protection' being enabled breaking the viewer?
when i turn 'hotlink protection' off in my host's control panel the thumbs and images load fine. when i turn them on, it doesn't work.
does anyone know if the flash viewer needs to be adjusted so that it can pass correct referer?
