From the same people that brought you SimpleViewer comes PostcardViewer, a free Flash image viewer. Kind of like SimpleViewer, except about 1000% more awesome, if that's even possible, which it might not be because SimpleViewer is so cool.

davin of lowresolution.com and ross of rossevertson.com and 50mm have teamed up and created making room. the first issue is absolutely beautiful, and showcases two of my favorite artists, julie west and jason fulford.
i expect tons more goodness from making room. so should you.
davin had this to say, before he realized that he had been scooped:
We are proud to announce the launch of MakingRoom, a new photo and image-arts magazine.
MakingRoom is a magazine about the process, intention and results of image-making. MakingRoom is at heart an “Art Magazine†and will be open to the discussion of film, video, painting, and more. It’s our hope to comfortably view and examine the range of individual processes that lead to powerful visuals. We plan to talk fairly plainly but with depth to artists at all stages of their practice.

Hey Everyone
I was wondering if I can get a volunteer out of the community to help with the "Best of 2004" photoblogs site. I have started uploading content to a typepad account but I don't have a design template in place yet.
So basically I was hoping someone could come in and create a simple, yet good looking design for the site. I'm not looking for some breakthrough design, but something that is a little more fancy than a default template.
The volunteer should have the following things
a) time (if you are too busy, don't bother)
b) experience with MT and/or typepad tags
c) basic CSS knowledge
d) a decent eye for design.
Obviously I could do these things myself, but then we would be waiting forever for the gallery to appear.
I'm extremely sorry for the delay, but I only have myself and my xbox to blame. It's really dampened my productivity.
Any volunteers can contact me at photojunkie AT gmail DOT com
Thanks

~ update for photoblogring users/members ~
Hi and a Happy New Year to all photobloggers from photoblogring.org.
My apologies to all who have been running up against dead-end links when navigating the photoblogring of late. I bit the bullet last night, sat down for a good few hours and winnowed out all sites that had changed or lost their code or had become 404.
I understand that some servers/sites have transient problems from time to time, so all "can not be found" or "not responding" sites have been placed back in the pending queue for a few days. If they still don't load after that I will remove them.
Now all sites in the ring should be able to jump to other random sites with valid webring code. Thanks for your patience.
In other exciting news, the random sidebar links have been increased to 200 sites with link blocks of 20. Yippee! (Don't fall off your chairs)
I also have added a new page with a full blogroll listing of all active members...it's getting to be a long list!
Thanks to all active members who have stayed wiith the webring through all it's teething problems. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you or make the ring more useable/accessible etc.
~ Thus ends the update ~
Cheers!

now up and running the london.photobloggers.org online community for all londoners and of course anyone else from the UK, big thanks to Lor for making this a reality.
this is the beginning of an online community site for all london/UK bloggers where we can post news of cool events/exhibitions, cameras and accessories, or anything else that would interest photographers/photobloggers. there is the photoblog aspect where folks can post their latest fave shot. we'll use the blog to organise get-togethers as well, and share photos from those events. we'll also be spotlighting various UK photobloggers along the way too. Ideally we want it to become a strong community of photographers who can share their thoughts and opinions of all things photography related.
Cheers Jim

Derek and I would like to thank everyone who submitted to our call for "Origin" back in October of last year. It was a very difficult task to winnow the final selection down to 31 photographers from almost 500 submissions.
Issue No. 1, Origin has launched and features the work of Maureen Banack, Kevin Byrd, Jesse Chan-Norris, Paul Cloutier, Eric Costello, Redrick deLeon, David Disser, Cedric Gairard, David F. Gallagher, Tracey Hoyng, Adriene Hughes, Grant Hutchinson, Sam Javanrouh, Amparo Jelsma, Dave Lipton, Theresa Manzanares, Ian McNairn, Rion Nakaya, Marc North, Fredrik Olsson, Janete Rebizzi, Andrea Scher, Nate Shepard, Laura Sina, Hugo Solo, Christina Sponselli, Heather M. Stanfield, Jane Tam, and Brian Utley.
We'll begin accepting submissions (via our fabulous new submission engine) for our second issue, Lost, next week.
Again, thanks to the photography/photoblogger community for your support.

The January 2005 issue of Shutterbug magazine features an article entitled Blog, Blog, Blog, Blog, Photoblog : How Photographers Are Making The Internet Work For Them. The author, David B. Brooks, outlines the advantages of photographers who have photoblogs and mentions several communities as well as many popular photoblogs. Photoblogs.org was a favorite, of course, as he shares what many of us have known for some time.
Today, finding interesting and rewarding photoblogs has been made easy by some dedicated people who have created websites that track individual photoblogs and provide links to many which the managers of the sites have found interesting or exceptional. From a photo enthusiast’s perspective, the website that offers the richest harvest is www.photoblogs.org.
Images and a few words about why they do what they do are featured by several Photoblogs.org members, and a few others are mentioned by the author himself. In the article are:
Jinky Art
Catherine Jamieson
A Walk Through Durham Township, Pennsylvania
Always Curious
Pixelbrand
Heather Powazek Champ as well as The Mirror Project
Chromasia
Daily Dose of Imagery
The Narrative
Watch Me Turn 30
Sushicam
Kudos to all of the wonderful photoblogs featured and to Brandon for having such a talented group to pick from! It is exciting to see other photographers in the 'real world' recognizing the efforts of the members here. Does this mean we are going legit?

Flash! Stop the presses! Hold the mayo! The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) is holding their annual photojournalism contest. The great news is that they now have a web division that's now open to "independent photo sites" (i.e. photobloggers). The entry rules are here. There's no entry fee and anyone running a photoblog can enter under the "Inde" classification.
For more information, check out this link.
