Lapsus de memoria

Sun, February 6th, 2005 by Frank Lynch

Being of short memory, I'm sure you've forgottn my tendency to call out non-English photoblogs... But yes, it's time for another one. I encountered this site through photoblogring.org, and I have to confess I am very hooked -- so much that I've skipped past my usual process of asking the photographer details I could share. They're really good.

So you should just go.

And if you want to add it to your favorites/watchlist, that link is here.

shutterbug: How Photographers Are Making The Internet Work For Them

Shutterbug is out with a story on the booming popularity of photoblogs.

"As
far as photoblogs are concerned, the limitation in the past had been
the slowness of dial-up Internet connections and, until recently, the
cost of good digital cameras. Recently, photoblog activity expanded
like a field of mushrooms with the proliferation of inexpensive compact
digital cameras, widespread adoption of broadband Internet connections,
and the advent of cell phones with digital cameras built-in. "

Brandon's photoblogs.org site gets a mention as does alwayscurious.com, catherinejamieson.com and jinkyart.com.

Please check out the work of Matt Gilliam at his new photoblog site, mineisnodisgrace.com which was recently registered with photoblogs.org. Matt lives in Hollywood, but shoots in various locations.

I've met Matt a couple of times, and am impressed by the depth of knowledge of photography he has acquired in a short time. I'm particularly drawn to his meticulous compositions, and his often surprising use of color.

Photoblogs.org is Back!

Thu, February 3rd, 2005 by Brandon Stone

I just finalized the switch to the new server.  We should be back in business now!

Some of you may still see the 503 Error page as we wait for the DNS to propagate fully.  (This should correct itself within a day or so.)

Let me know if you see anything odd with the site.  Switching servers tends to cause unexpected quirks here and there.

Thanks again for all your support during these growing pains.  With this new server Photoblogs.org should have plenty of room to develop and grow.  I can't wait to see what the future will bring!

Just in case...

In the humor department...

I wanted to stress how important it is to get a signed release for any model you shoot, agree to terms ahead of time and settle on a $ amount if any images are used commercially...

Why do I bring this up?

Well it seems this guy hit the jackpot after realizing his image was used in advertising for far too long without being compensated for it...always settle up first before you start cashing any checks!
