First, we just wanted to let you know that the 'behind-the-scenes' work is well underway on this project (read the original thread here).
{Houser Design Studios is producing the site -- wait until you see it everyone, it's really fantastic. -mk}

how about the palindrome aoxomoxoa (also the name of a Grateful Dead album which they apparently got from a famous Hippie cartoon with a surfing eyeball alien that would chant aoxomoxoa aoxomoxoa aoxomoxoa... it has now come to mean something like "the moment of extreme bliss or a feeling of perfect harmony with the universe.")

I also like a descriptive URL. weeklysnap.org works for me, as does hotshotoftheweek.org though it's a bit long.

actually, it's powza!
it could be a loose acronym of 'photos of the week awards' for the more literal set. it is short and easy to remember. the more you say it the better you will feel.
i'm voting for powza! and think you should too.

Love Powza. It's a great word, effective acronym, it's easy to remember and has terrific impact...like a Batman punch. Pow! Wham!...you get the picture.
Or if you just want to go with the regular straightfoward approach imageoftheweek.org works fine. Pretty easy to remember. It's just not as fun.
So for me, I'd go with powza first.

I vote for POWZA!! It would be a great name for an award "I won the POWZA this week" or "this photograph was given the POWZA Award" yes I like it. The Z can stand for 'knock your socks off! that's my vote. Im wondering though if Derek Powzazek [sic] emphemera.org. will mind though.

Powza is cool. . .but if you're leaning toward gleesh - I can appreciate random. It just sounds happy like "glee".
If you want more literal, you could do gleeshweekly or gleeshpotlights?
But really, literal is lame. Who would ever visit a literal-named site? Like photoblogs.org. On a regular basis?? And leave comments???

Moreover, it has a professional long-standing organizational ring to it and suggests one should already know it but can't quite place it. Powza it should be.

I like Powza! too, right with the (!). The original idea was Yowza! (if I'm not wrong) but was already registered. Now Howser says that Powza.com is registered too, but maybe .org isn't. Better hurry! Imageoftheweek is good also, more descriptive, but less catching IMHO.

Actually, I don't see a lot of other ideas from this thread in the list at the top. If we are going to vote, wouldn't it be better to include all the suggestions? If one doesn't read this entire thread, many ideas won't even be considered.
Secondly, with over 10,000 fotoblogs out here (and growing exponentially every day), wouldn't it be better to choose perhaps 10 (= .001%?) best images of the week?
