Kodak announced the end of an era yesterday when they said they would no longer manufacture black-and-white papers after the end of the year. According to a Kodak spokesperson, demand for black-and-white paper declined about 25 percent annually. Another casuality of the digital revolution. I cut my photographic teeth on Polycontrast fiber based paper. So long, Polycontrast, it was fun while it lasted. Hello Ilford (and Bergger and Oriental, too)...
The good news is that they will still make black and white film and chemicals. My precious HC-110 is safe... for now. The entire article can be viewed here.

I have only recently rediscovered posting at Flickr. Long after signing up I am nowgot back into the swing of posting images and creating a contact list of authors to follow.
I started bookmarking favorites, thought I'd pass along the link to the 46, errrrr...make that 51 now, images I have designated as favorites in an attempt for others to uncover a few new photographers, from a few different places. If you like candid portraits you'll notice I do as well in the ones I've chosen so far, a few to chew on.
Anyone have a favorite list to post/comment with?

This Sunday, June 12th, we are having our second meetup at Paddington Station at 10:30am.
Meet at the BurgerKing Starbucks located next to Heathrow Express terminal in Paddington Station and we'll go from there. The plan is to do a walk from Paddington to Little Venice and hit the canal from there. There will be tons of great photo ops and we'll find a spot along the way (perhaps Regents Park) to sit, grab a bite and chat a little as well.
Update: Sorry for the belated change. We will be meeting at Starbucks located next to Heathrow Express Terminal in Paddington Station. I'll make sure to head along to the BurgerKing to find anyone though, so no worries.

There'll be plenty of good food, great art -- including photography -- and some terrific street photography opportunities. Our staging area will be the Starbucks on Main Street just east of Chicago Avenue.

Pinx Photoblog is one of those great, unpretentious sites with a wonderful variety of excellent images. Well worth checking out, I think Kenneth Karstens is overdue a little exposure
