Relief In Sight

Relief In Sight is a limited, hand-assembled DVD featuring three unrelated short films by three members of the photoblogging community who have applied their unique vision to filmmaking. 100% of the proceeds of the sale of this DVD will be donated to charities benefiting relief efforts in the wake of the devasting 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, and in particular Hurricane Katrina.

An edition of 20 will be produced and numbered, and then never made available again. The price is $20 plus shipping.

    This is a great idea. However, the "Le Requin Mort" features a Brian Eno piece which is used without permission (according to the credits).

    It strikes me that this might be problematic for a variety of reasons if you're charging money, even if it's for a good cause...

    I'm actually hurt I wasn't asked to participate *sniff* :-)
    Seriously though, even if it is for a good cause, the Eno piece could lead to trouble, even at such small quantities. I recently had problems in a recent student film concerning a Cliff Martinez piece (from 'Solaris'). It was a film that didn't earn a cent, but permissions are needed.

    Other than that, it's very nice that you three (could've been four!) are doing something for this situation. Very commendable and I'm sure it will help many people... Best of luck.

    Don't worry, I changed the soundtrack especially for this. I looked up Brian Eno in the phone book but he wasn't listed, so I figured I'd play it safe.
