i am very tempted to take the chernobyl tour. it seems like such an amazing place. my only fear is that it will become cliche with everyone taking the same picture over and over.

I'd like to know which tour Daniel took, all the ones I looked at don't allow cameras. Perhaps he's accredited or just plain wily ;)

I'd still love to go if I knew I could take photographs.

I didnt take the tourist tour, this was arranged through the various bodies which control the area.
And yes.. press accreditation helps when it proves your not just a happy snapper (kiddofspeed!!!) and you have the interest of the people in mind

    Glad you liked them!

Actually forgot to add why I initially went.

I was disgusted how Elena managed to fool everyone in thinking she was allowed to ride around the various exclusion zones on her motorbike.
During my weekend there, I was with Rimma who was the person Elena used to "ride" around with on the tour.

I wanted to go out there and research what has happened, or not in most cases, in 20 years of living under the atomic cloud. Part of the trip was to interact with the various residents who still call the region home, but a -10 blizzard put that idea on hold until May, when im heading back there.

Hopefully the images portray the region as it is, its a spectactular place and hard to explain what its like to be in a city of 50 000 and not hear any noise or movement

    danger!!

dont ever come to chernobyl! i used to work on the rbmk 1000 reactor during 1982-86. im 47 years old but look like im 130. from the radiation at the plant i now have three legs and three arms! i often stumble over my third leg as it grew from my crotch.

some people working in the exclusion zone call me a unicorn due to a 14 cm growth coming from my right side of my head.

they wont let me out the dead zone near the plant as the guards say i scare tourists.

do you really want to be like me?

    stay away!!

igor, the chernobyl mutant, now living in a sewer beneath pripyat.

i just read the commant above where a '47 year old man'apparently looks like he is 130 because he worked ther..i think it is terrible that anyone would even considor making jokes about the chernobyl disaster it is not possible that you just grew an extra arm and leg because you worked there it can only happen to new born babies that will be born that way after the mother and father have lived there just because u look old doesnt mean you can use the fact you worked there as an excuse u are a sick minded and sad person
