Nikon are announcing a new DLSR in 19 days. The only details in the public domain are that it's not a professional model and it's 10.2mp (the same as the new Sony Alpha). Speculation is that it's a replacement for the D70s, or perhaps at more of a stretch an all-new competitor for Canon's 5D.
There's a teaser clock on Nikon's major websites, for example on Nikon UK.

so they'll announce it in 19 days...and it will take 8 months to ship? lol...the D2X made me oh so angry, was almost a year after being announced before I saw one in person.

I love the added resolution but full frame would be nice too.

V.interesting that London Camera Exchange chain of stores cannot get hold of any D70s's for love or money. Makes me wonder if they've switched production temporarily and there's a whole stockpile of these new beauties to be released in August!? I'm guessing a new D80 or D90.

I aggree Mr Blinkings8s Nikon the SO CALLED professional camera manufacturer twaddle and twaddle all they like but they can't deliver you still can't easily get a D200 in Australia. This UNprofessional delay has made me wakeup and saved me money cos now I'm not interested in the bloody camera at all nor any of their other products.
Wake up Nikon. This is a new world and a digital one at that. Panasonic, Samsung and Sony are all sliping into it and within a short period could eat you alive!

As much as Nikon has improved in recent years, it's not the company it was when I shot with my F or F2... Canon has the glass and the guns -- take the latest 5D, the Canon 5D Mark II. It's a remarkable improvement over an already outstanding piece of equipment. I'm actually most excited about the incredible light sensitivity -- a top end of ISO 25,600. No, I don't see myself shooting at ISO 25,600 -- what it gives me is low noise at high ISO's, which will be fantastic for getting great depth of field in natural low level light. Baby portraits, intimate nighttime portraits, etc.
