Thanks!

Brandon's photos 'featured' on Real Time with Bill Maher -- sort of

Tue, September 20th, 2005 by David S.

Cool!? Crappy!? (or both)

Check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/lbstone/44076689/
to see the surprise Brandon got while watching Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO. It appears that a composite of two of his photoblog entries from last year ended up as a backdrop for one of the skits, without his knowledge. In true Brandon fashion he seems quite level headed about it all, as some people scream "sue!", some suggest "maybe someone else took the exact same picture", and others seem to think "oh well, it is probably just a
screw up".

(I've disabled the comments for this posting, to save having the same conversation here as is going on on the Flickr posting above, as well as the Google groups conversation, not to mention the Digg conversation. )

September Issue of Photoblogs Magazine Now On-Line

Sun, September 18th, 2005 by matt

SeptcoverthumbAlthough it is two weeks tardy, the September issue of Photoblogs Magazine is finally on-line. Again I am thrilled with our international participation, from Uganda to Bucharest, India to the U.S., and Argentina to Canada; and I’m as pleased as ever to provide this venue for photobloggers to condense a sample of their work and share their unique vision, as well as their informative and creative writing, with all of us. As with the previous issue, you will find both an html version and a more magazine-style, downloadable pdf format. Please stop by and have a look at http://www.photoblogsmagazine.org, and consider submitting your own work for the November issue.
Thanks,
Matt

Photoblogs Magazine May Issue Now On-Line

Sun, May 1st, 2005 by matt

May05coverthumb_2Greetings All,
I'm excited to announce that the May, 2005 Issue of Photoblogs Magazine is now available on-line at http://www.photoblogsmagazine.org .
It gives me great pleasure to present the work of Massimo Marengo , Zishaan Hayath , Whit Wagner, John Mulhouse , Sarah Graybeal , and Pablo Montanez; all outstanding photographers and photobloggers, to be sure. I’m hoping that their photography, words, and courage to put their work on the line will encourage many more of you to submit work for future issues.
Also, congratulations to Bernard Mataigne (1st place), Luke Winter (2nd place), and George Butler II (3rd place), in our first Photoblogs Magazine Photo Contest. Go here to see the photos and text.
Nitsa (who presides over this contest) received a tremendous response for this first challenge, and is looking forward to the next round. If you would like to help Nitsa figure out what to do with all of her free time, you may consider submitting a photo for this next challenge. Find out how here.
If you like what you see, please take a moment to subscribe to the magazine (for free) so that you are eligible to submit work and receive updates, etc.
Thanks for your tremendous support and encouragement,
Matt

Los Angeles Photobloggers

LA Photobloggers
Calling all Los Angeles Photobloggers!
After a few technicalities getting the losangeles.photobloggers.org domain setup with my host, we finally have the site up and running. Thanks to Nitsa for posting our first real post and also thanks to Brandon, Susan and Whit for their help and moral support. Now the fun part. If you're a photoblogger in the Los Angeles or surrounding areas (or know someone who is), then drop by and let us know. At the very least, we want to add you to the blogroll, but what we really need are contributors to post news and stories.

Update: After a shaky start this morning, the crashed database server seems to be up and running! Let's cross our fingers that that doesn't happen too often.
