JPG Magazine is looking for your happy accidents:
"Sometimes the best shots are accidents. They come from the moment your finger slips, your settings are wrong, you shoot into the sun, or your model sneezes. The results are more about serendipity than technique, and they can surprise even the most accomplished photographer.
The theme for Issue 6 is "Oops!" to celebrate these happy accidents. We're seeking submissions of photos that say "Oops!" to you. Maybe it's a photo you didn't mean to take, or a moment you didn't expect to capture. You're encouraged to have fun with the theme. Surprise us!"
Submit your shots here, submissions are open until April 30.

The theme of web legends/photobloggers/publishers Heather Powazek Champ and Derek Powazek's latest JPG Magazine is "Photography is Not a Crime". Issue number 5 begins their second year of publication, and is now available for sale at Lulu. From JPG's website:
The theme, "Photography is Not a Crime," is a rallying cry. It's meant to remind everyone that amateur photographers are the documentarians of real life. We capture our world to help us understand it. We are not a threat.
The issue contains 31 photographer's takes and stories on the theme, NYC subway photography by Edmund Leveckis, Shane Lavalette's Family Portrait Project, an interview with attorney Bert Krages, and a special clip-out Photographer's Right Bust Card.
Our rights as photographers is a topic that is repeatedly being challenged in our everyday encounters and frequently discussed in the photoblogging community. There is currently another example of how relevant this theme is at the NYC Photobloggers website. Hopefully the ongoing discussion and tools such as the current JPG issue will help someone out there know what do to when their rights are challenged.
Thank you Heather, Derek, and all of the inspiring photographers in the issue for addressing this topic head on. Check out the preview at JPG Magazine, and remember that photography is NOT a crime!

From JPG Magazine.
JPG Magazine Issue 4: No Theme is now available! For the final issue of our first year, we decided to take a break from the usual theme. We just asked for your best photos of 2005. And we got 'em!
Inside issue 4 you'll find 35 amazing photographs, an interview with Youngna Park and Zach Klein about their "Candy Cane for Your Portrait" project, and a set of brilliant lomos by featured photographer, Kevin Meredith.
+ Submissions open for Issue 5: Photography is Not a Crime
In a post 9/11 age of paranoia and suspicion, public photography has become threatening, even criminal. And we here at JPG are sick of it.
For Issue 5, we're asking you to go out in public and take photos. Insist on your rights as a photographer. Shoot where people tell you not to. And, of course, send the best one to us. Submissions are open now until January 15, 2006.

Amazing street photography by Nitsa of The Streets are Alive
Glorious tree shots by Charles Bryant of Black White and Lemon Art
Evocative images of Amsterdam by Lynn Elliot of Two-Muses
Exciting visions of music festivals by Peter Williamson of peterwilliamson.blogspot.com
