Do yourself a favor and check out Issue 3 of MakingRoom Magazine. These are some of the smartest, most talented, most-non-self-aggrandizing people I know. In short, they rock.

Former Brooklyn based, now Torontonian, photoblogger Jonathan Greenwald of Shrued (profile) is appearing over at La Repubblica, one of Italy's largest newspapers online today. An impressive collection of 25 of his street photographs appear in a gallery that was featured on the front page earlier today, and is now enshrined in the Spettacolie & Cultura foto section. The direct link to the stunning gallery is here.
We emailed Jonathan to ask him about the experience. When first contacted by the Photo Editor at La Repubblica about appearing, his first response was:
"You sure you got the right Jonathan Greenwald?"
Yes, we are sure. Congratulations Jonathan!

The genre of street photography is thankfully alive and thriving within the international photoblogging community. However, how many of us have taken our art back to the streets, literally? There has been a recent buzz going around about an unlikely street photographer in Paris. He is known only by his initials, JR, who is also a graffiti and performance artist. Disturbed by media distortion of the youth in last year's suburban housing riots, JR started posting pictures of local youth illegally on buildings in Paris. He would print out the images he took poster size and paste them onto walls near where he took them. Before the riots the authorities viewed him as a nuisance, afterwards they gave him an exhibition in Paris to perhaps help show empathy. His exhibition then helped to inspire another that included photographers such as William Klein, Marc Riboud, Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Sarah Moon who shot in the same areas that JR had originally.
Now JR has a book out, and a photoblog sharing his work as well as his journey.

Time magazine presents the White House photoblog, a good example of the adoption of photoblogs by mainstream media. The photoblog focuses on images taken by Time's photographers on White House duty, and range from intimate moments in the West Wing to stumping on the campaign trail. Most of the featured images are the kind of behind the scenes shots you wouldn't normally see in the papers, many offer an amusing view of events, such as this one by Christopher Morris.
It's great to see high profile photoblogs like this one popping up, does anyone know of any others?
Thanks to Frisky for the link.

Our own contributor Chantal brings you an interesting profile of a new perspective on photoblogging - and life - in her article 'Come Live the LifeVicarious' about photoblogger Christian Wagner. Christian has done what many of us dream of doing, giving up our jobs to travel the world, and photoblog about it.

Featuring photoblogger Susan Burnstine, an interview with Kathleen Connally and more, the new issue of Bending Light Magazine is definitely worth checking out!
"The theme of the issue is from a 2nd century AD poem titled 'Pervigilium Veneris' and encompasses both sides of the love equation. Whether you’re in or out of love, the plea for more resonates with all of us: “Let those who have never loved, love tomorrow; and let those who have loved, love tomorrow.” With these thoughts in mind, we looked for images that captured either the poignancy and subtle beauty of solitude (waiting for that love to arrive) or the joy and warmth of shared affection (hoping for even more)."

A remarkable photo-documentary by photographer Paul Fusco about the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. This is a beautifully produced, sometimes shocking and always effecting piece about the children born of Chernobyl. This is the kind of thing which really opens your eyes and your heart.
